A very warm welcome to the Autumn Term, I hope you had a wonderful Summer. Can I say how excited I am to be the new class teacher in Year 5 and we are all looking forward to a brilliant year of wonderful work in the lead up to next year and the children’s final year at St Paul’s. Here is our outline planning for this term. Things occasionally change, but this is what we are aiming to learn about up until half term. For our Newsletters, please look at the 'News' tab. Have you seen the Kids' Zone? Play some great games and visit cool websites!
Two quick reminders. Please note that, for this term, the children now come to school in their PE kits on Thursdays (their PE day). If the days get colder the children will need to wear jogging bottoms and fleece tops or a tracksuit to avoid getting cold. Also, homework will be coming home on Tuesdays and will be expected to be completed by the following Monday. The children will be encouraged to let me know if they have a problem with this sooner rather than later so it’s not left until the last moment to complete!
Finally, keep encouraging reading at home, whether reading to your child, with your child or listening to them and celebrating their developing reading skills. The importance of reading, both for learning and for pleasure cannot be overestimated and will significantly help your child’s progress at school.
I am really looking forward to meeting you all. Please feel free to contact me or pop in to see me at any time if you need to discuss something, no matter how trivial it may seem. Your child’s learning and happiness is very important to me.
