Hello, and welcome to the second half of the Autumn Term, I hope you had a good half term break . So, we're up and running in Year 5 and all looking forward to continuing the wonderful work begun in September. Below is our outline planning for this term. The odd day here and there might be different, but this is what we are aiming to learn about up until the Christmas break. For our Newsletters, please look at the 'News' tab. Two quick reminders. Please note that the children now come to school in their uniforms on Thursdays (their PE day). If the days get colder the children will need to wear jogging bottoms and fleece tops or a tracksuit as part of there PE kit to avoid getting cold. Also, homework will continue to come home on Tuesdays and will be expected to be completed by the following Monday. The children will be encouraged to let me know if they have a problem with this sooner rather than later so it’s not left until the last moment to complete.
A big thank you to all of you who support your children's learning by taking a keen interest in the homework and encouraging them to take their time and produce some excellent work. This will continue to be excellent preparation for Year 6 and, of course, when they make the big move to Senior school. Also, a massive thank you to all those who helped with the brilliant 'Solar System' models that were produced over half term; they were truly spectacular!
Finally, keep encouraging reading at home, whether reading to your child, with your child or listening to them and celebrating their developing reading skills. The importance of reading, both for learning and for pleasure cannot be overestimated and will significantly help your child’s progress at school.
I am really looking forward to continuing working with you to help your wonderful children reach their full potential. Please feel free to contact me or pop in to see me at any time if you need to discuss something, no matter how trivial it may seem. Your child’s learning and happiness is very important to me.
